I’ve given that classic lunchtime favourite tuna sandwich a makeover and turned it into a spicy tuna burger. This was a hit and all 3 of my kids, they loved it, success!
I’ve used tin of tuna along with some other bits to form the burger patties. Made a spicy mayo, a bit of lettuce and job done.
Ingredients
2 x 145g tins of tuna.
2 spring onions, roughly sliced.
40g of sweetcorn.
1 red chilli, roughly chopped.
1 small handful of fresh coriander, roughly chopped.
2 tbsp of mayonnaise.
2 tbsp of plain flour.
Method
Drain the tuna thoroughly and place it into a bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients to the tuna, season and mix well.
Shape the mixed tuna into burger patties. You can cook them straight away or place them onto a plate, cover them with clingfilm and pop into the fridge to set for 1 hour.
Add a splash of oil into a nonstick fry pan. Cook the patties over a medium to high heat for around 2 minutes on each side. You are looking at getting a nice crust on each side.
Once out of the pan place on some kitchen paper. Toast your buns and spread on your favourite sauce. I made a spicy mayo by combining chilli sauce and mayonnaise. Add some lettuce serve and enjoy.
